This post is inspired by a transformative session led by Din E. Tolbert of Din Between The Lines during our recent workshop series on goal setting for Resurrection Sunday and beyond. His insights reminded us that this season is more than a moment—it’s a movement. Resurrection isn’t just what Christ did; it’s what He calls us to step into. So as we prepare for Easter, let’s move with intention, aligning our goals with His mission and setting a foundation for lasting Kingdom impact.

Resurrection isn’t just a one-day celebration—it’s a call to transformation. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and active, moving us from stagnation to purpose. As church leaders, creatives, and ministry teams, now is the time to align our goals with God’s mission—not just for Easter, but for the season ahead.

1. Dig Deeper: Are Your Goals Rooted in His Mission?

It’s easy to get caught up in church programming and forget the bigger picture. Challenge yourself to dig deeper. Are your goals just about filling seats, or are they about transforming lives? Are your plans centered around activity, or are they focused on impact? Everything we do should point people to Christ, not just to a great event.

Take a moment to reflect:

  • How does your church define success?

  • Are your outreach efforts creating disciples or just attendees?

  • What’s one area where your ministry can shift from routine to revival?

2. Focus: Set Goals That Reflect Resurrection Power

The resurrection wasn’t passive—it was a moment of divine power that changed everything. Your church’s goals should reflect that same transformative power. Instead of vague hopes like “we want more engagement,” set intentional, measurable goals that align with the Great Commission.

Here’s how you can shift your focus:

  • Instead of “we want more volunteers”, ask “how are we equipping our people to serve?”

  • Instead of “we need more youth involvement”, consider “how are we discipling young people beyond Sunday?”

  • Instead of “we want better attendance”, prioritize “how are we creating a culture where people encounter Christ?”

3. Build Momentum: Resurrection Sunday is Just the Beginning

Resurrection is a launchpad, not a landing place. What happens after Easter? How are you sustaining the energy, engagement, and spiritual hunger beyond that Sunday morning celebration?

  • Create clear next steps for new visitors and returning members.

  • Strengthen discipleship pathways that help people grow in faith, not just attend church.

  • Engage your team in the vision so that the excitement doesn’t end when the Easter decorations come down.
